Adding an mLAN card to a MOTIF XS transforms it into an audio interface and MIDI interface. Then you can connect a Mic or Guitar to the MOTIF XS’s A/D inputs to record to your DAW software. The MOTIF XS’s System Effects can be used to process the signal on the way. You can also select multiple sounds on the MOTIF XS to be simultaneously recorded directly to the DAW. Up to 16 channels at a time can be recorded.

After recording, you can send 4 stereo tracks from the DAW out to MOTIF XS, process the sound with the MOTIF XS’s System Effects and then route the signal back to the DAW. You can add all the incredible effects in the MOTIF XS without using any of your computer’s CPU power.

Connecting the MOTIF XS to the 01X via a single FireWire cable, expands the number of analog input channels in your system to 10 by using the MOTIF XS’s 2 A/D inputs. The MOTIF XS can also output 16 digital channels directly to the 01X. All of this audio can be processed through the 01X to add dynamics, 4 band Parametric EQ and additional effects. You can even route signal back from your computer to the MOTIF XS to take advantage of its System Effects for processing DAW tracks. Non-mLAN keyboards and sound modules can be added into your system through analog inputs or via the S/P DIF inputs on the 01X. In this example we added a MOTIF RACK via S/P DIF in. The 01X can also control the Multi Part Editor for the MOTIF RACK.

The mLAN Graphic Patchbay lets you easily route signals between the devices and then store those connections on your computer for instant recall. After establishing a connection with the patch software, the intelligent networking in mLAN remembers that configuration. So you can setup your 01X and MOTIF XS mLAN system at home with your computer, then take just the 01X and MOTIF ES to a gig. When you plug them in mLAN will re-establish the last routing you had setup and your ready to rock.
